You wonder how that tree branch came here in the first place; in an area where there is NOTHING around except sand, shrubs and nonstop sunshine.
Panorama view over Mosaic Canyon. Being a bit secluded from the main tourist spots makes this canyon a memorable hike! 
Mosaic Canyon is unique experience and you are surrounded by perfectly smooth marble (shaped by water).
Badwater Basin: located 282 feet under sea level spring water makes it way up to the surface even in a place like Death Valley.
And yes, all the white material is salt! I've tried it. Most of this compound is simple table salt (sodium chloride).
